Tea fannings cost much less in comparison to the whole leaf or broken leaf teas which are considered the premium Tea and hence the fannings become the product of mass consumption.Fannings are commonly associated with the tea used in commercially produced tea bags. The tea is ground and sifted, with the finished tea leaves being only slightly larger than standard ground black pepper. Fannings are small pieces tea that are left over after higher grades of teas are gathered to be sold, the fannings of expensive teas can still be more expensive and more flavorful than whole leaves of cheaper tea. Technically, they’re a lower grade tea, but they still have a wonderful, grassy sweet flavor, this makes them perfect for teabags.

Most fannings teabags produce strong flavor and can be sweetened with sugar as per the taste.

This allows for lower weight by volume, with less tea going much much further. Fannings can create somewhere around 3X the number of cups of tea per oz that full leaf teas. It requires paper bags, cotton bags, or an infuser small hole as to not allow for the small particles to pass through the infuser into the liquid.

The smell is grassy, light and fresh; the liquid is green and bright; the taste is smooth, balanced flavor and freshness which may heavy but not harsh.

Green tea fannings have not been fermented, so they largely retain the original flavor of tea, which is simple, elegant and sweetening lasting aftertaste.

Fannings are great for daily drinking use, and perfect for making iced tea with a paper filter.
